Primary research (also called field research) involves the collection of information that does not already exist. This can be done in numerous ways, including questionnaires and telephone interviews amongst others. This information may be collected in things like questionnaires, magazines and interviews. It is easy to have and keep detailed information about a persons views.
Secondary research (also known as desk research) involves the summary, collation and/or synthesis of existing research. It can come from either internal or external sources.

Today we discussed as a group the AS questions we are given for our planning and research. Mr Butcher broke each question up so we understood them in more detail than we would have previously.
Today to begin with, we took around an hour and a half of carrying on with planning our thriller. So our group carried on finishing our script ready to start filming soon..
The next part of the lesson Mr.Butcher showed us an American TV programme which we had to comment on all 5 aspects of. E.G: camera and lighting, editing, sound and music etc..
We watched the piece four times with 2 minute intervals to write down notes on what we had seen.
The last hour of the lesson we were discussing what we had seen and learnt new things that we will be having to write about in our exam. This list was:
Gender, Age, Ethnicity,Sexuality,Class and status, Physical ability/ disability and Regional Identity!
Mr Butcher also talked to us about Binary Opposition and Hyper Realism which we now know the meanings of
Today we began with practising on how to do a story board.. It was quite fun but quite good to learn as before I didn’t know how to do a story board. We learnt all the different camera shots available by doing this too.
After that we watched a 2 minute clip of doctor who that we had to write all five elements about. We wrote notes on the camera and lighting, mise en scene, special effects, sound and music and editing. We watched the piece 4 times with two minute intervals so that we could write as many notes as possible. After that we wrote a bit about it from our notes.
When we got back to class after break we watched the piece again, but with sir explaining all the elements that the program had. We understood more about it that way.
Today we began talking about what subversion and convention means with sir.
Once we learnt the meanings of them, we began planning what we are going to do in the next lessons to come. i.e: planning our opening scene, filming and editing etc..
Once we planned all that out we began our synopsis of the thriller we are going to film. We haven’t finished our synopsis yet but are going to try to next lesson.

Will be filming the scene outside of school as well. So on days we have off.
Scene to be completed by the end of January.
weather – rain, foggy, cold..
Person walking through rain, footsteps. Splash in the puddle.
Car
The opening scene being shot through the ‘killer/ psycho’ eyes allowing audience to see how the ‘killer’ sees things.
The killer sees life differently to what it really is. So when filming flashes between real life and psycho life.
Under water, flashing someone dead.
Flash backs of being dead/dying.
Opening scene.
Dark winter evening. Close up on foot steps of a women wearing red heels, camera starts moving to the back of head where the effects will show her view, like the camera is in her head from then on. (approx. 20 secs)
Once the camera is ‘the killers eyes’ we get the view of everything around her.
The piece will go back and forth from the view of ‘the killers eyes’ to actual reality and how it looks like that. In reality it is all dreary and dull, in ‘the killers eyes’ the surroundings don’t look as bad. (40 secs)
The killer is following somebody in particular and we tell this near the end of the first scene. The first scene turns out to be what happens at the end of the film.
When somebody is drowning we video them falling into the water. (maybe take some still pictures of when they are drowning in the water.)
Start the scene with the red heels and end it with this as well. Showing flashes of death in between and her view of life. The end will be the back of her walking away from the scene.
