In today’s lesson my group discussed idea for our film intro. We began to allocate character roles, and started planning our script based on our story plan and proposition.
After we watched a short t.v drama clip and analysed various aspects such as; sound/music, camera, lighting ect.
Mr butcher then told us about binary oppoition and hyperealism to help us when analysing short clips.
In today’s lesson, me and Sir discussed the 7 questions that have been set relating to the topic of video. We also discussed my progress within the lesson, and targets for future lessons.
After my group looked at the BBC writers room website, this gave us an insight into how scripts are presented.
We then proceeded to look around the school for inspiring images which would help us in creating a setting for out 2 minute film intro. We looked specifically at trees, roads, and also a stream which creates a eerie, and also lonely vibe. We then looked in the art storage room and found a number of useful props to photograph. This included driftwood, animal skulls, masks, old typewriters, knifes and saws. We felt that each object would be useful to observe as they are not the usual everyday objects. We focused more on the driftwood and the animal skeletons as they compliments the eerie and lonely vibe that the trees, roads and streams gave.
At the beginning of today’s lesson, we discussed the terms
- Subversion – tackling a problem from the bottom
- Convention – thinking before you speak
Our group then continued the planning of our thriller opening scene. We looked back on ideas we have previously came up with to help us think of more ideas.
We also looked back at the reviews of films that we have previously watched in lesson to study how a thriller is put together and what makes it effective.
