Video Analysis

Blood Red Shoes – Don’t Ask    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE5AB0mHnSk

This music video is a raw live performance with a blurred noise distorted effect. The camera work is frantic and gives a sense of confusion and delirium. The raw camera effect and distorted guitars compliment each other tactfully, transmitting the feel of actually being there at the live gig. I believe the producer was aiming for the raw live performance feel because the band themselves and the song use is quite raw and heavy.

The XX -VCR    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI2eO_mNM88

With the song being quite dim with a slow tempo, the producer has created a fairly minimal and bleak video which i would be interested in doing. I feel the transition from black and white to colour half way through the video works well. I believe the producer used black and white to add a dramatic and depressing feel which compliments the music.

Golden Silvers – Please Venus   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0IyCgXfDLs

This video uses stop motion animation throughout, I feel i would like to incorporate some stop motion in my own music video. The whole video is black and white with colour animations and effects highlighting certain features. while the music is gradually progressing into its full, the music videos animation is also progressing with bigger animations and colour.

At the start of todays lesson i worked on my contents page for my magazine, worked on the lay out and colour scheme. in the last 2 lessons we watch the TV series “The Wire” 4 times and had to make notes. in the last lesson mr butcher talked to us and explained about the camera angles and lighting  and sound and music.

he also spoke to us about gender, age, ethnicity, class & status, physical ability and regional identity. Also spoke about binary opposition.
